Dalhi Gonthier Quartet
Acclaimed Ottawa jazz guitarist Lucas Haneman and Orleans drummer Pierre Haché have joined forces with awarding-winning saxophonist Dalhi Gonthier and eclectic bassist Paul Van Dyk to bring a great jazz sound to the Orleans Festival Jazz Club.
Hailing from a small island on Canada’s West Coast, Dalhi Gonthier is quickly earning a reputation as one of Montreal’s finest up-and-coming jazz musicians. A natural tour-de-force, this fiery young saxophonist is the leader of many ensembles, all of which feature the equally talented Paul Van Dyk and Pierre Haché as his core rhythm section. Dalhi’s bands have performed at various venues: from the many bars of the Montreal jazz scene to the refined prestige of the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall; from the world-famous Montreal International Jazz Festival to Ottawa’s own Café Paradiso. Firmly rooted in the jazz tradition, but always fresh and daring, Dalhi Gonthier’s music will take you along for a ride you won’t soon forget.
Lucas HanemanOrleans-raised musician Pierre Haché now primarily performs and teaches in Montreal and is excited to perform in Ottawa for the first time in over a year. A graduate of the music concentration at École secondaire publique De La Salle, Pierre studied classical guitar at the University of Ottawa and has a BFA in Jazz Drum Performance from Concordia University.
Lucas Haneman, winner of the 2010 CNIB’s national “iFactor Award,” plays with a number of highly respected groups in both Ottawa and Montreal.
Kitchener, Ontario native and dynamic bassist Paul Van Dyk rounds out the quartet with his explorative sound.
